Gold and Silver Information- January 2012

Hello and welcome to the exciting opportunity that awaits you - earning your Silver or Gold Award! Scarsdale Edgemont service unit Girl Scouts are earning these awards in record numbers and we invite and encourage you to do it too! It's not too difficult and it will add an incredible achievement to your resume and life experiences.

Next, begin working on your Gold Award by completing a Senior or Ambassador Journey(s).

Girls who want to earn the Gold Award should first read the requirements on the Heart of the Hudson web site http://www.girlscoutshh.org/Girl%20Awards/Gold%20Awards/

After completing all requirements, contact Mary Ellis or Mary Lane to review your project ideas. Then complete your Gold Award Application/Proposal. Again, feel free to run your ideas by Scarsdale Edgemont Gold mentors before submitting your paperwork. When you are ready, submit all paperwork to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and ask for an appointment in Pleasantville for a Gold Award meeting (see GSHH website) to present your proposed 80 hour Gold Award project. Remember, you may not start your project until it has been approved by the Gold Award Committee.

  • Feb. 13
  • March 19
  • April 16
  • May 21
  • June 18
  • July 16
  • August 20

Appointments begin at 6:30 PM and are scheduled in 15 min. intervals. Appointments are only made after proposal paperwork is received. We suggest you email your application proposal.

Award Ceremonies:

Each June, SEGS hosts a Gold/Silver Award ceremony and reception at the Betty Taubert Girl Scout House. As a Scarsdale Edgemont Gold or Silver award recipient, you will be invited and honored at our ceremony. Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson also holds a ceremony in early spring which you will also receive an invitation.
